A downloadable game for Windows

A group of prisoners found a way to their freedom - a gap led to some mysterious underground sections below the prison.

To avoid causing a commotion, the prisoners decided to try and leave one by one - but little did they know... their death is inevitable and they will most likely perish in one way or another. MEMENTO MORI.

Live through the prisoner's final moments yourself, explore the dark and mysterious underground sections, and fight for your life in this medieval action-packed horror experience.

CORE FEATURES:

  • 3 Weapons and Monsters types - each enemy has a weakness toward a specific weapon
  • Sacrificed prisoners drop their equipped weapons - which can be used to improve your chances of survival with living prisoners
  • Creepy and dark dungeon atmosphere

This prototype was made in less than 7 days during the Blackthornprod's $10,000 competition. And it is just that - a prototype that has no proper winning conditions set in place.
The theme for the competition was MEMENTO MORI, and I have documented the whole development progress on my ShorteDev YouTube channel:

Controls:

  • WASD - Move the character
  • SPACEBAR - Jump
  • SHIFT - Sprint
  • LEFT MOUSE BUTTON - Attack
  • 1, 2, 3 KEYS - Switch between weapons
  • E - Pick up dropped weapons

Install instructions

Extract the "Build.zip" file and run the "DungeonCrawler.exe" executable to start the game.

Note: I was too lazy to implement a proper pause menu, so if you'd like to close the game you either need to use the ALT+F4 shortcut or kill your character and press the "Quit" button in the character selection screen.

overall good idea with great potential. However the fighting mechanics for the players needs work. Its too slow compare to the enemies they can do fast attack cuts/slashes. While I'm still loading up my first swing of my sword.  I like how different weapon affect each enemy differently however the other items that effect them more should be able to loot. Before 2 of them chase you non stop. These slight fixes and  the game be great mostly the combat fixing. I know was side project but if ever do another game maybe use these ideas and input. I loved how the game looked.

even tho you lost the competition, it’s still a pretty good game 👍
